Justice for Kawaski Trawick

Kawaski was a Black gay man killed by NYPD Officers Brendan Thompson and Herbert Davis in 2019. He was cooking in his home when they illegally entered, tased and shot him in 112 seconds. After shooting Kawaski, neither officer provided any emergency assistance - in fact Davis held the door closed to Kawaski's apartment before paramedics arrived. After years of cover-up, delay & obstruction that started in the last administration and has continued in the present, a discipline trial was finally held this spring and concluded in May - but Thompson and Davis still haven't been fired. Reporting in May revealed the NYPD's investigation of Thompson & Davis was a sham to cover-up their wrong-doing - they were only interviewed for about 30 minutes, and while they were asked about the weather, they were never asked about the video of the killing or their contradictory statements. Kawaski Trawick's parents and most of his family live in Georgia - so it's up to us in NYC to keep fighting for Kawaski when his family isn't able to be in NYC.

Make the Road NY's Youth Power Project is organizing this action, in coordination with the Justice Committee and others who have been fighting to demand the firing of Thompson & Davis.
