Council Outreach for the #HowManyStopsAct

The How Many Stops Act is two common sense, good government bills. Intro. 586 (sponsored by Public Advocate Jumaane Williams & Councilmember Alexa Aviles) will require the NYPD to report on all NYPD street stops and demographics of those being stopped. Intro. 538 (sponsored by Councilmember Crystal Hudson) will require the NYPD to fully report on their use of consent searches. These bills will bring urgently needed transparency to the NYPD’s daily activities in our communities as a necessary step toward true public safety.

Immediately following the Kawaski Trawick rally, we'll be heading over to City Hall (Broadway side entrance) to talk with council members about the How Many Stops Act, which we are organizing pass in September! Please email leo@jfrej.org if you plan to attend.

Action Coordinators: Justice Committee, NAACP LDF, JFREJ.
