This past week, the Israeli military launched a brutal assault on Rafah, where over 1.4 million Palestinians are sheltering, many after having been forcibly displaced multiple times over the past five months. Now, the Israeli government is openly preparing for a ground invasion of Rafah, leaving people in Rafah with nowhere to go.

On January 27, the US abruptly suspended funding to UNRWA, the lead aid organization serving Palestinians following allegations that 12 of its 13,000 employees had taken part in the October 7 attacks. UNRWA immediately fired the employees and an investigation is taking place. More than a dozen countries followed suit in suspending funding, decimating UNRWA’s ability to deliver life saving aid to over 2 million Palestinians under siege in Gaza in addition to 4 million Palestinians who live within and outside Palestine. UNRWA “will not be able to continue” operations in Gaza, the West Bank, and East Jerusalem “beyond the end of February.”

This is an emergency. We’re rallying to demand that Senator Schumer and President Biden immediately resume full funding for UNRWA and support an immediate ceasefire. Bring pots, pans, and noisemakers to help us ring the alarm: the U.S. must resume funding to ensure critical aid reaches Palestinians!
