After the murders of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor in 2020, thousands of New Yorkers joined a historic nationwide uprising to demand that our city divest from its morally bankrupt system of policing and mass incarceration and invest in our most vulnerable communities. In that moment of possibility and promise our mayor and our city council failed us. Now we have a new mayor, and a new and very different city council. What emerging opportunities can we seize? How do we reach for the stars to make a better world possible, to continue to carve a tunnel of hope through the dark mountain of disappointment? What is our new strategy, how are we planning to take action this year, and how can you get involved?

At our February 1st campaign meeting, you'll get up to speed on this year's campaign goals and the new political context, learn about our work on hate violence prevention and a care-based response to mental health crises, and find a role to play in our Freedom To Thrive campaign.
