Join Our Team: JFREJ is the home for Jewish New Yorkers organizing with our neighbors and allies to transform New York from a playground for the wealthy few into a real democracy for all of us, free from all forms of racist violence.

How you’ll contribute to the mission:

JFREJ is seeking to hire someone to support our work by having meaningful conversations with our members, make fundraising asks, and who will be an important first touch point to bring people into our organizing.

Position Responsibilities:

  • 25-30 calls per hour on the following projects that support JFREJ’s long-term sustainability through fundraising and building our people power:
    • November Membership Drive - asking people to join JFREJ as dues-paying members.
    • Call lapsed members, failed/failing monthly members, and/or current monthly members to renew or increase their dues in December and January.
    • Calling members to thank them for their contributions and let them know about upcoming ways to be involved with JFREJ.

We are seeking someone with:

  • Alignment with JFREJ’s mission and values.
  • Ability to manage one’s time well effectively, so that you can reach as many members as possible in a given day.
  • Ability to have effective conversations with JFREJ members.
  • Ability to quickly familiarize oneself with using JFREJ’s phonebanking software.
  • Ability to make back-to-back calls for multiple hours at a time (with breaks built in).

At Jews For Racial & Economic Justice, we practice hiring with intentionality and an understanding of how many factors, such as race and class, decrease equity in hiring interns. We strive to build a different hiring process that is more equitable and transparent.

With equity in mind, we will only be reading the answers to this form. In addition, while we ask for your name and contact information, those reviewing these submissions will have these applications anonymized to reduce hiring bias.

My (Sara) first interaction with JFREJ was attending the first national Jews of Color Convening hosted by JFREJ in 2016 which introduced me to a community I didn't even know I deeply needed. I interned at JFREJ before joining the staff full time in 2018 as a Development Associate. Now as the Development Manager, I'm looking forward to working with someone who's curious about development/fundraising work, grassroots fundraising, and ready to bring more people into this vibrant community.
