Join for a training to practice leading songs & chants!
Singing in public and taking up space is a muscle necessary to build to help sustain our movement. It’s a skill we can practice together - like canvassing or doing safety and security.
Following the launch of the JFREJ songbook, Singing in Public: Melodies to Carry the Movement, we’re making a practice of getting together every couple months to learn songs from different movement struggles and diverse diasporic Jewish traditions. In doing so, we’ll learn tactics to lead songs and chants at marches, rallies and other actions.

If you are not a musician, singer or performer - YOU ARE WELCOME. You don’t need to sound “beautiful,” you just need to mean what you sing - movement singing is NOT a performance…and it’s fun and cathartic to be together!
If you’ve never come to a songleading workshop, or if you’d like a brush up session, join us at 6pm for songleading 101 where we’ll introduce some basic skills and tips for leading songs in public. You are welcome to stay for the second part of the evening where we’ll learn some songs included in the JFREJ songbook and practice singing together!
If you’ve previously attended a songleading workshop, we invite you to come at 7pm to sing together and learn Rep from the book.
The JFREJ songbook will be our helpful guide. You can order a copy or download a free pdf here.
