Live from the Frontlines of the Fight for Voting Rights: A Conversation with Journalist Ari Berman

Congress, the Supreme Court, and state legislatures are deciding on bills and laws impacting voting rights in June and July. More than 380 bills to restrict voting rights have been introduced in 47 states and 70 of those bills are moving quickly toward possible passage. The For the People Act (S1) would protect and strengthen the right to vote by answering many of these new state voting restrictions, but its passage depends on either eliminating or surmounting the filibuster. The Supreme Court is deciding a critical case related to the Voting Rights Act and the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act will be introduced later this summer.
