Join for a training to practice leading song & chants!

As Chicago organizer Kelly Hayes teaches, Fascism is a cultural project of dehumanization that sets us up to live in fear. To beat it, we need to have a cultural strategy of our own. That’s why learning how to sing in public and take up space is a muscle we need to build. It’s a skill we can practice together - like canvassing or doing safety and security. 

Following the launch of the JFREJ songbook, Singing in Public: Melodies to Carry the Movement,  we’ll gather on August 4 (likely outdoors in Manhattan) to learn songs from different movement struggles and diverse diasporic Jewish traditions. We’ll practice how to lead songs and chants at marches, rallies and other actions.

If you are not a musician, singer or performer - that’s great! You don’t need to sound “beautiful,” you just need to mean what you sing - movement singing is NOT a performance…and it’s really fun!!!!!
