36 years ago, JFREJ’s founders saw that having an organized and strategic Jewish Left was critical to building progressive power in NYC.
It took 36 years to get us to this point where the wider Left, and the Jewish Left, are ascendent in New York. Now, we challenge ourselves to lean into our power, to wield it as fiercely as possible to mitigate the devastating violence of this political moment – and to finally enact the better future we deserve. At this year’s Mazals, we will celebrate the organizers who built everything that got us here, the courageous truth-tellers and activists who are steadfast in exposing fascism and protecting each other from it, and the possibility of actually creating the NYC of our liberated dreams: members of NYC Courtwatch and Mi Tlalli, and more to be announced!
