June Queens Neighborhood Group: #JewsForClaire & #JewsForKristen Long Island City canvass & dinner

At JFREJ’s June Neighborhood Groups meetings, we’re going to get out the vote! This is a chance to build community, learn about the stakes of this election, and get trained in a foundational element of organizing – canvassing and phonebanking. Join the Queens Neighborhood Group to door-knock for not one but TWO TJV-endorsed Queens candidates: Claire Valdez & Sen. Kristen Gonzalez.

What to expect at our Tuesday, June 18th meeting:

  • We'll meet outside in the park and find each other (looks for the "Jews For Claire" and "Jews For Kisten" signs)
  • First, a representative from the campaign will talk about the stakes of these races, and someone from JFREJ will talk about what they mean to us, specifically as progressive New York Jews.
  • Next, we'll get trained on how to have a persuasive conversation with a voter, ask and answer questions about issues that might come up in the neighborhood, and practice using the canvassing mobile app.
  • Then, we'll head out in pairs, and knock doors! (note: this is the one part of the event with some indoor interaction, where we can stay masked while having a 2-3 minute conversation at someone's door. There can be an all-outdoors option if needed, let us know in the RSVP form.)
  • Social time & Debrief: we'll come back together at the end to debrief as a team, share any funny stories, and learn from each other's experiences, likely over food or drinks at a local restaurant or park with outdoor seating options.

Please bring a fully charged cell phone and a mask, and wear any JFREJ gear you have!

Note: this is not exclusive to neighborhood group members, so feel free to invite your friends to RSVP and join.
