We are seeking a Digital Event Coordinator for our December 16, 2021 Mazals: JFREJ's annual awards program where our membership comes together to lift up and honor our incredible honorees and celebrate a year of organizing, in community.

Type: Part-time, temporary (~10 hours a week up until Nov 19, ~20 hours a week from Nov 22-Dec 23)

Salary: $40/hour, no benefits

Reports to: Director of Development

Position Description

JFREJ is seeking a Digital Event Coordinator for our December 16, 2021 Mazals, our annual awards program where our membership comes together to lift up and honor our incredible honorees and celebrate a year of organizing, in community. Due to COVID-19, we will not be in person this year. We are seeking an experienced event coordinator to help us create a compelling and interactive event. This position will be managed by the Development Director and will begin October 1, 2021 (or as soon as the position is filled).

This position manages all non-fundraising aspects of the event. This position is not responsible for our fundraising goal or overall fundraising strategy, but should be aware of them and will need to incorporate both into their plans.

Job Responsibilities

The Mazals Coordinator will be responsible for the following:

  • Managing the overall arc of the program(s) in close collaboration with our Executive Director and Director of Strategic Communications
  • Running multiple digital events including: pre-program cocktail hour, Mazals program, and tbd additional (e.g., digital host committee pre-party/ies)
  • Learning about and understanding the fundraising strategy of the event and coordinating directly with the Development Team to ensure seamless fundraising integration within the program
  • Working with artists to create our Award design, music for the night of the event, and any other cultural and ritual components
  • Managing all outreach to and coordination with honorees (including scheduling pre-recorded segments for the event and ensuring all communications about them are pre-vetted and approved)
  • Managing all outreach to and coordination with special guests including scheduling, prep for remarks, and other necessary logistics
    Incorporating key accessibility principles, including securing ASL and Spanish interpreters
  • Managing our video partner relationship, including being at all recordings of content and digital stage managing
  • Coordinate a social media strategy and email strategy with our Director of Strategic Communications and Development Director
  • Running the show the night of including our cocktail hour before on Zoom and moving seamlessly into our full program which is livestreamed on Facebook and other platforms
  • Leading weekly or biweekly meetings about the direction of the program

Qualifications

The Mazals Coordinator will have:

  • Familiarity with JFREJ’s work and commitment to our mission

  • At least 3 years in event coordination, with some digital and fundraising experience preferred
  • A knowledge of the New York organizing landscape and/or Jewish social justice work
  • A deeply collaborative approach
  • Attention to detail and ability to pivot quickly
  • Knowledge of digital tools like PowerPoint, social media, and Zoom
