Role Overview: We are seeking a full-time Finance and Operations Manager to join our growing team. The Finance and Operations Manager manages our financial, administrative, human resource, database, and IT systems. This role is critical in supporting our organizational culture of of teamwork and continuous learning. This role supports staff to collaborate to accomplish organizational goals and provides staff with the tools required to manage their own administrative tasks. Our ideal candidate is highly organized with great attention for detail, prior work experience in financial management and/or bookkeeping, and a facility with learning new systems and software and solving problems creatively. This candidate also demonstrates a commitment to JFREJ’s mission, brings a social justice lens to their work, is flexible and effective in a fast-paced and evolving environment, and has a great sense of humor. Finance and Administration

  • Ensure accurate and up-to-date records of financial transactions, including day-to-day bookkeeping and training staff on relevant systems. Supervise reconciliations by contract bookkeeper.
  • Produce regular financial reports that support the organization’s cash flow management, foundation reporting, and government contracts.
  • Manage the annual audit and filing of required tax forms and serve as primary liaison with accountant.
  • Administer shared services agreement with allied organization, the Jewish Vote (TJV), and provide compliance and finance management services to TJV pursuant to that agreement.
  • Collaborate with Executive Director in the annual budgeting process, financial forecasting and internal controls.

Human Resources

  • Maintain personnel policies and employment records for all staff.
  • Process payroll and onboard all new employees to PEO, benefits, and internal JFREJ systems.
  • Negotiate benefits packages for staff and provide support with health and retirement benefits administration, including annual open enrollment.

Facilities and Operations Management

  • Oversee basic facilities management, including off-site storage.
  • Manage relationship with landlord and building management.
  • Manage organization of both digital and analog files in compliance with record retention policy.
  • Act as liaison with insurance vendors and brokers as needed and obtain insurance certificates when requested by staff.
  • Manage, monitor, and maintain office equipment and supplies.
  • Work with ED to identify and address ongoing infrastructure needs.

IT & Digital Security

  • Oversee relationship with external IT consultants.
  • Act as the organization’s point person for cyber security policies, procedures and troubleshooting.
  • Maintain and evaluate the IT needs of the organization, working with staff, vendors, and IT consultants to identify and resolve issues and recommend repairs and upgrades. Handle day-to-day IT issues, including adding users to digital accounts, managing permissions, and troubleshooting problems as they arise.

Database Management

  • Manage all online donation processing services.
  • Supervise part time administrative assistant for all data entry and management tasks.
  • Work to build and maintain Salesforce CRM functionality for organization.
  • Oversee regular strategic review of Salesforce CRM implementation.


The Finance and Operations Manager must have:

  • The ability to manage systems and projects with great attention to detail;
  • A commitment to excellence;
  • A working understanding of bookkeeping, budget management, internal controls, and non-profit accounting practices;
  • Proficiency with Quickbooks and Excel, and the ability to quickly learn and use other finance-related tools as needed;
  • Familiarity and experience working with CRM databases;
  • Experience with various aspects of HR, including benefits administration and compliance;
  • A commitment to, and experience with, collaborative team structures and work environments;
  • Resourcefulness and creativity in troubleshooting obstacles as they arise;
  • The ability to design and implement operational systems that foster efficiency; and
  • The ability to work independently and roll with the punches in an ever-shifting political and movement landscape.

The following are a plus, but not requirements:

  • A minimum of 3 years administrative/financial experience, preferably in a non-profit environment;
  • Experience supporting organizational IT needs;
  • Proficiency with Salesforce CRM;
  • Experience working in grassroots, membership-based organizations.

Salary and Benefits: $50,000 – $52,000/year, with full benefits package, generous personnel policies, and opportunities for salary growth.
