Updated for Saturday & Sunday 11/10 - 11/11
Locations, supplies, and volunteer needs for hurricane relief listed in bold.
The need continues in response to the extended period some New York residents have suffered without electricity, water, and reliable information. Several of JFREJ's partner organizations - whose inspiring work we have honored for decades - continue to be engaged in critical hurricane relief work in their communities. On this site, we will keep you updated with information from JFREJ's ally organizations on ways you can help - either through volunteering, donating supplies, or donating funds.
Here's a video by JFREJ member Ariel Federow on how to be a great volunteer for hurricane relief efforts!
1. Visit the Occupy Sandy Relief Movment site for regular updates on places where volunteers and donations are needed most. The folks at Occupy are coordinating new volunteer needs daily.
2. Update from our allies at CAAAV Organizing Asian Communities
Here are the locations this weekend we hope you will support:
1) CONEY ISLAND
Check out our website for needs:
2) FAR ROCKAWAY
Come volunteer on Saturday to assess the needs of Rockaways residents and to deliver aid. Please RSVP by emailing nyccvolunteer [at] gmail [dot] com or by calling (347) 410-6919 ext 285.
If you have car and can drive other volunteers, or if you want to volunteer but need a ride, go to the NYCC office in Downtown Brooklyn at 10 a.m. on Saturday. From there, volunteers will be dispatched to the Rockaways. The address is 2-4 Nevins St., 2nd Fl, Brooklyn, NY, 11217. You can also go straight out to the Rockaways to meet at 11 a.m., please RSVP first to find out exactly where to go!
CAAAV is still accepting non-clothing donations at our office at 46 Hester Street, from 10-5pm on Sunday, and the rest of next week. Check our website for updated lists.
